SchermCentrum Amsterdam will always try to handle members’ personal data with care. Below we explain how we do this.
This privacy statement describes how SchermCentrum Amsterdam (SCA) handles personal data and the rights that members and beneficiaries of SCA have. All personal data is collected, processed and secured in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). SCA is responsible for the personal data that we process and have processed from you.

SCA processes personal data of members mainly for the membership administration, but also to be able to share good photos via social media. In addition, we also process personal data to be able to organize events.

SCA uses this information for membership administration, invoicing and to be able to contact you. In addition, we occasionally send newsletters with club news.
We provide part of this information to the Royal Dutch General Fencing Federation (KNAS). The KNAS is independently responsible for the registration there.
SCA processes this data for the execution of the agreement with you; after all, you have made the choice to become a member yourself. SCA retains this data for 2 years after the date of deregistration.
SCA retains a minimum amount of data from former members so that you can be invited to a reunion and for analysis purposes, for example. If you are a former member and do not appreciate this, please let SCA know.
SCA promotes the association through our website and social media. For this SCA processes:
SCA stores this information and publishes it for legitimate ends: for promotion of the club, of events, outings and other tournaments, as well as (winning) competition results of members.
Should you see a less flattering photo of yourself and you wish for it to be removed, please get in touch.
For the organization of events such as screen tournaments, SCA also sometimes needs incidental information from you. SCA processes one or more of these data for this:

SCA uses cookies on its website, with the sole purpose of improving the website.
KNAS membership is mandatory with membership of SCA unless there is already a membership of a foreign fencing union. They are independently responsible for your registration with them.
Furthermore, the SCA website is hosted by Realtime Register, where there is also a backup. Realtime Register is a hosting party, with which SCA has concluded a processor agreement.
SCA uses the Mailchimp platform to send electronic newsletters. To this end, member’s email addresses are used.
SCA processes your personal data on Dropbox. Dropbox saves files in accordance with the GDPR.
Under the GDPR, you have the right to inspect, correct and delete your personal data. In addition, SCA can ask to restrict processing, transfer the personal data and you have the right to object to the processing.
