We’re entering the summer with great results!

Dear Fencers,

We are again at the end of an amazing season – we hope you enjoyed and had a great time on the strips!
Before saying ciao, for now, we would like to have a short recap on some topics:

Results and competitions

Once again, SCA shone in the NK events on 29/30 June in Amstelveen. Thanks to all our athletes who took home some precious metals home, fun and great results. Shout out to Suhayl, Saskia and Karen who are the new national champions – Daniël (Giacon) and Marleen took home a silver medal, while Axel, Tessa, Enli, Mandy and Mika managed to reach third place. Good luck also to Saskia who, while becoming the National champion for the 13th time, has decided to to retire after an incredibly successful career including 3 Olympic Games.

Among the younger fencers, it was a great way to close the season with a successful National Youth Championships, where Jonne, Jasmijn, Laszlo, Maria, Cedric and Suhayl won the titles.

We also want to congratulate our wheelchair fencer Elke for their incredible results. After a great second place at the European Championships earlier this year, Elke again achieved great results at the World Cup in Sao Paulo with a silver medal and a bronze medal at the World Cup in Warsaw.

With the closing of the year, we take the opportunity to thank our amazing coaches Matthijs, Daniël, Arash, Rezk and Elise for the great job and patience with all the athletes and the organization – another successful season was not possible without them!

Summer schedule

We’ll be back to our regular schedule starting the week of September 2:

• The first Y1 (18:00-19:00) session will be on Tuesday, September 3.
• Apollohal sessions will resume on Wednesday, September 4.
• Saturday lessons will resume from September 7.

The training schedule for summer will be then slightly adjusted as follows:

Frans Otten Stadion

• Our final Saturday session was on Saturday, July 6. No more Saturday training until September, when the next Saturday session will be September 7.
• The last Y1 (18:00-19:00) session was on Thursday, July 11, from 18:00 to 19:00.
• Y1 fencers are welcome to join the Y2 sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:00 to 20:30.

Youth & Senior Training (Apollohal)

• Our last training at Apollohal was on Wednesday, July 10.
• If you usually train at Apollohal, come join us at FOS! We’d love to see you there.

BBQ

Thanks for participating in our BBQ – regardless of the weather, seeing you all at the Frans Otten for a bite and a lovely afternoon together was great. We look forward to seeing you again!
